MUST WIN RACES

THAT WILL ENABLE ACTION

ON CLIMATE IN 2021

WHITE HOUSE

Joe Biden (D) vs. Donald Trump (R)

Anyone passionate about climate action knows that the stakes could not be higher. Joe Biden must win the presidency not only to make significant headway on climate action in 2021.

There are seven toss-up, must-win Senate races (two of our former toss up races have graduated to "Lean Democrat"). In all of these races, the incumbent is a Republican.

HOUSE

According to the political website FiveThirtyEight, "If Republicans hold onto the four vacant but solidly GOP seats they previously controlled, they will need to pick up 18 seats to win a majority."

However, of the 12 competitive House races identified by FiveThirtyEight, only one has a Democrat incumbent. The upshot is that the Senate races above and the White House are the areas of focus for enabling action on climate.
